If you are experiencing difficulties taking measurements on patients with larger arms, Pulse Metric, Inc. now offers kits, which will allow you to obtain successful measurements in these cases. Besides either a large or thigh cuff, the package includes a pump assist assembly which will allow the user to supply additional air during the inflation process, and also allow additional release of air during deflation in order to obtain the desired release times. Some instances which may indicate the need for these kits include: User is unable to securely fasten the cuff around the patients arm because the circumference of the arm exceeds the size of the cuff. Generally, there should be at least one inch overlap of Velcro to ensure that the cuff will not come apart during inflation. Existing cuff will not inflate completely and DynaPulse Pathway stops pumping prematurely and displays ‘Safety Time-Out’ error message. Existing cuff does inflate, but unit displays ‘Safety Time-Out’ because air release time duration has exceeded the unit’s limit, and the low range pressure was not reached. These kits will allow for manual pumping during the pump-up sequence, and will also allow for additional air-release to ensure successful measurements.
